Translation and Language Industry Observations

Last week saw one of the deadliest mass shootings in recent years. The massacre in Uvalde, Texas was especially tragic as it involved grade school children who were murdered viciously at a tender age. Mass shootings are always tragic. And they are always perpetrated by a lunatic whose only motive is blind hatred. But targeting this hatred towards innocent children? It struck a nerve in the nation, in the world and in the hearts of everyone.

Of course this triggered an intensification of the gun control debate which has been going on for decades. Democrats want tighter gun control and believe that this will put an end of mass shootings. Republicans who believe that the 2nd amendment is their God-given right argue that people kill and not the guns themselves.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed (US Constitution 2nd amendment)

Regardless of this debate, the firearm industry is big business-especially in the USA. And despite the political rancor, the gun industry is growing rapidly. Translation services are required for gun and ammunition manufacturers that import and/or export products to other countries. Since the sales of firearms is so tightly regulated, translation services may be required for import and export of firearms.
