Google App Engine is free until some threshold, but if you are puting applications with intensive requirements in the cloud you get charged. However, when the big giant enters a space, it does not necessarily mean success, and smaller players do still have a chance to play in the market ... The key point is to show the value of your differentiation to your clients!
